The VI International Symposium on Tomato Diseases held in Taichung, Taiwan, on May 6-9 2019 attracted more than 200 participants from 25 countries.

Experts, scholars, researchers and students looked into the latest advances in research on diseases of this globally important vegetable crop. Particular attention was paid to threats related to globalization (such as the transport of horticultural pests and diseases) and climate change and the importance of breeding for resistance to diseases and emerging environmental threats.

In this context, Dr. Chang Yuan-li, Virologist of the World Vegetable Center, presented the concept of the G2P-SOL project at this event.

The G2P-SOL project (Title: Linking genetic resources, genomes and phenotypes of Solanaceous crops) has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 677379.
