G2P-SOL reaches out to the Spanish Plant Breeding Community!

As G2P-SOL aims at redefine how to manage and organize Solanaceous genetic resources and make this information available to end-users, the project was present at the Spanish Plant Breeding Congress that took place from the 18th to the 21st September 2018 in Murcia (Spain).

G2P-SOL partners from UPV took advantage of this opportunity to present some interesting results to an audience including more than 200 participants from the plant breeding research, academic, and professional sector.

During the session “Genetic resources II”, David Alonso (UPV) gave an overview of the characterization of the assembled germplasm collections and of the database (hosted by Phenome Network) collecting passport data and images of Solanaceous crop accessions used in the frame of G2P-SOL.

The audience showed great interest in the G2P-SOL database and also in methods used to identify duplicates within and among the collections.

The Spanish Plant Breeding Congress was an excellent opportunity not only to present G2P-SOL, but also to reach out plant breeding companies that found the information generated by G2P-SOL of great relevance for the future of Solanaceous crops breeding.

The G2P-SOL project (Title: Linking genetic resources, genomes and phenotypes of Solanaceous crops) has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 677379.
