G2P-SOL reaches out the Greek Plant Breeding Community!

Our G2P-SOL partner, Jaime Prohens (UPV) has been invited to attend the 17th Hellenic Congress on Plant Genetics and Breeding (http://17pbcongress.teiwest.gr/) held from 17 to 19 October 2018 in Patras, Greece.

Jaime Prohens presented the G2P-SOL pre-breeding activities to an audience including more than 150 participants from the plant breeding research, academic and professional sector. A significant number of PhD and Master Students also attended the event.

The audience showed great interest in the G2P-SOL pre-breeding approaches and in the use of the “introgressiomics” approach (mass scale use of wild relatives for introgression breeding for adaptation to climate change). Eggplant pre-breeding was presented as a case study.

The Hellenic Plant Genetics and Breeding Congress was an excellent opportunity not only to present G2P-SOL pre-breeding approaches but also to reach out a growing community of young Greek breeders.
