Dr Roland Schafleitner,
The world vegetable center (
AVRDC)

“The World Vegetable Center Genebank holds in trust more than 60,000 different vegetable accessions and uses this diversity to breed new improved varieties. The Biotech team supports the Genebank scientists and breeders with molecular tools for germplasm characterization and crop improvement. In G2P-SOL, our team will work on tomato, pepper and eggplant germplasm characterization and pre-breeding and perform capacity building in genetic resources conservation, vegetable production, pest and water management and postharvest conservation.”

The G2P-SOL project (Title: Linking genetic resources, genomes and phenotypes of Solanaceous crops) has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 677379.
