Best Poster Presentation Award for G2P-SOL partner

Congratulations to Jadwiga Śliwka and her colleagues from the Plant Breeding and Acclimatization Institute (IHAR-PIB)!

The group presented its work “Finding and use of late blight resistance genes from potato relatives” and was awarded the Best Poster Presentation of the Technical Session D "Potato Pests and Diseases” at the World Potato Congress in Cusco, Peru.

The 10th World Potato Congress (WPC) was held from May 27-31, 2018 attracting over 800 participants from science and industry. For the first time, the event was held in Latin America together with the XXVIII Congreso de la Asociación Latinoamericana de la Papa (ALAP) and it was supported by National Institute of Agricultural Innovation (INIA), the International Potato Center (CIP), the National Agrarian University La Molina (UNALM), The Food and Agriculture Organization at the United Nations (FAO) and the Exports and Tourism Promotion Board of Peru (PROMPERÚ).

The main themes of the congress were defined as “Biodiversity, Food security, and Business” and highlighted the challenges of the worldwide population increase, climate change and more demanding markets.

Peru being the birthplace of the domesticated potato and Cusco as the capital of the Inca Empire has been a truly special venue to share potato research and innovation.
